Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives have arrested 23-year-old Johnathan Dugazon of Seaford in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month in Seaford, Delaware.
Officials said on March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:24 p.m., officers from the Seaford Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to a report of gunfire at Nutter Park, located at 712 Collins Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located 23-year-old Schweitzer Dessin suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were initiated on scene before Dessin was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Three additional victims, identified as males ages 19, 21, and 23, self-transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries related to the shooting. In light of the severity of the incident, the Seaford Police Department requested the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit to take over the investigation.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit identified Dugazon as a suspect through investigative measures police said. An arrest warrant was subsequently obtained. On March 24, 2025, officers from the Seaford Police Department located and arrested Dugazon without incident.
Following his arrest, Dugazon was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 5, where he was formally charged. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $2,156,000 cash bond. Dugazon faces multiple felony charges, including:
Murder in the First Degree, Attempted Murder in the First Degree, five counts of Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Weapon by a Person Previously Convicted of a Violent Felony, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, three counts of Reckless Endangering in the First Degree, and two counts of Noncompliance with Conditions of Recognizance Bond or Conditions.
