Multiple People Injured In Sunday Accident

Just before 6:30 Sunday evening emergency crews responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 273 just east of Route 1 that resulted in multiple critical injuries and a significant.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that two children were ejected from a vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Early radio transmissions also included information suggesting a possible fatality; however, law enforcement officials have not confirmed any fatalities as of this report. A vehicle involved in the crash was torn in half, with the wreckage scattered along the roadway.

Initial reports also indicate that a New Castle County police officer was among those injured in the collision. The officer was reportedly entrapped in the vehicle and required rescue. The extent of the officer’s injuries remains unclear at this time.

The New Castle County Division of Police issued a public statement advising motorists to avoid the area. “Due to a collision, the roads surrounding the area of 273 and DE Route 1 will be closed,” the department stated.

Emergency response included multiple ambulance units, medics, and fire companies. Further details, including the number of vehicles involved and the condition of all individuals injured, have not been released. Authorities are expected to provide updates in the coming hours.
