Police: Felony Charges Teens After Middle School Beating

The Delaware State Police arrested two 13-year-old females and a 12-year-old male, all from Delaware, for assault-related offenses following an assault that occurred at Calvin R. McCullough Middle School in New Castle last week.

Officials said on February 28, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Delaware State Police Troop 2 Youth Aid Detectives were notified of an assault that occurred earlier that morning at Calvin R. McCullough Middle School, located at 20 Chase Avenue in New Castle. The investigation showed a 13-year-old student from New Castle and a 13-year-old student from Wilmington, struck a 13-year-old student multiple times in the head with a metal Stanley cup according to police. Also, during the assault, a 12-year-old student from New Castle struck the victim with his hands police said. The suspects were separated by school staff and turned over to their respective guardians while the investigation was conducted.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated for serious injuries to her head.

Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for the two 13-year-old suspects. The teens turned themselves in at Troop 2, where they were each charged with multiple felony crimes. The 12-year-old suspect was charged with a misdemeanor offense.


On March 5, 2025, the 13-year-old female from New Castle turned herself in at Troop 2, where she was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by New Castle County Family Court, and released to a guardian on a $7,500 unsecured bond.

  • Disorderly Conduct

On March 6, 2025, the 13-year-old female from Wilmington, DE, turned herself in at Troop 2, where she was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by New Castle County Family Court, and released to a guardian on a $7,500 unsecured bond.
