Wilmington Police are continuing efforts to identify a deceased female found earlier this month and are requesting the public’s assistance by releasing new forensic sketches of two tattoos found on the victim’s body.
The sketches, created by the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, depict two distinct tattoos discovered during the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone who may recognize the tattoos or have information that could assist in identifying the victim to come forward.
The investigation stems from a March 4 response by Wilmington Police to the 1100 block of East 7th Street, where officers were dispatched at approximately 5:59 p.m. for a report of a deceased person. Upon arrival, officers located the decomposed remains of an unidentified individual along the banks of the Christina River. The remains were transferred to the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences for further examination.
An autopsy determined that the victim was a white female, estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old. Investigators believe she may have been in the water since December. At this stage of the investigation, there are no immediate signs of foul play, and the official cause of death has not yet been determined.
Detective James Rook of the Wilmington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is leading the case. Individuals who recognize the tattoos or have any other relevant information are encouraged to contact Detective Rook at (302) 576-3621 or by email at [email protected].
