Newark Mayor, Council Elections Today

The City of Newark is conducting its municipal election today, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, to fill the positions of mayor and council members for Districts 1, 2, and 4. Polling stations are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In the mayoral race, candidates Travis McDermott and Michael O’Neal are vying for the seat currently held by Jerry Clifton. District 1 voters will choose among John Suchanec, Demitri Theodoropoulos, Walton Babich, and Rebecca Stewart for their council representative. Corinth Ford is running unopposed in District 2, while Dwendolyn Creecy is the sole candidate in District 4.

Polling locations are designated as follows: District 1 at Wesleyan Church of Newark, District 2 at Aetna Fire Station #8, District 3 at Aetna Fire Station #7, District 4 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, District 5 at First Presbyterian Church of Newark, and District 6 at Alder Creek Community Room.
