Pedestrian Dead on Maryland Avenue Early Monday Morning

Wilmington police and rescue crews responded to the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Lower Oak Street just after 5:10 a.m. Monday following reports of a pedestrian struck.

Upon arrival, first responders located an individual who had sustained fatal injuries. The patient was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of this morning, Maryland Avenue in the area of the crash remains closed. Authorities are urging motorists to seek alternate routes while the scene remains active and law enforcement continues their investigation.
