Three Injured In Newark-Area Crash Thursday Morning

At approximately 8:37 a.m., New Castle County Paramedics, along with fire and EMS personnel, were dispatched to the intersection of Capitol Trail and Harmony Road in Newark following reports of a motor vehicle collision involving injuries.

Upon arrival, first responders found a two-vehicle crash involving a box truck and an SUV. Emergency personnel from New Castle County EMS, Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company of Newark, and Mill Creek Fire Company provided care to three individuals injured in the incident.

An approximately 10-year-old male, who was an occupant of the SUV, sustained extremity injuries and a possible head injury. He was treated on scene by paramedics and subsequently transported to Nemours Children’s Hospital in serious condition.

The adult female operator of the SUV and the driver of the box truck both sustained minor injuries. They were transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by basic life support ambulance units for further evaluation.

The Delaware State Police is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
