Man Airlifted After Serious Crash Tuesday

A 59-year-old man was seriously injured Tuesday evening following a motor vehicle collision on DuPont Parkway near Meadow Drive.

At approximately 5:04 p.m., emergency personnel from New Castle County Paramedics, Odessa Fire Company, Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to the scene for a report of a single-vehicle crash, with initial reports indicating the vehicle may have been on fire.

Upon arrival, first responders located one vehicle and one injured occupant. Odessa Fire Company EMTs were the first to initiate patient care, and New Castle County Paramedics subsequently identified the man as suffering from suspected internal injuries. He was stabilized on scene before being transported by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Newark. At the time of transport, the patient was listed in serious condition.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the crash. No additional details regarding the cause of the collision have been released at this time.
