New Castle County Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning in Newark.
The incident took place at the Liberty Square Apartments, formerly known as Prides Court Apartments, located off Winchester Road in the area of Red Mill Road and Prides Crossing.
At approximately 3:49 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the complex for reports of a shooting. First responders arrived on scene and located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The individual was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not released information regarding the victim’s condition.
Detectives remained on site into the morning hours.
