Police: 17-Year-Old Targeted In Dover Shooting Incident

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in the area of Simon Circle.

The investigation began at approximately 2:22 p.m. when a Wyoming Police Department officer, who was nearby, heard gunfire in the vicinity. Master Corporal Ryan Schmid, Public Information Officer for the Dover Police Department, said that multiple officers responded to the scene and located a 17-year-old male who reported being the target of the shooting. Authorities confirmed that no injuries resulted from the gunfire.

Schmid stated that the initial investigation determined a black male suspect, wearing dark clothing, discharged a firearm at the teenager before fleeing the area. Detectives attempted to gather further information; however, the 17-year-old victim was uncooperative during the investigative process police said.
