A domestic incident in a Wilmington neighborhood prompted a large-scale law enforcement response Monday morning, resulting in an extended standoff and the temporary lockdown of nearby Conrad Schools of Science. Authorities were initially dispatched to the area following a report of a physical altercation between individuals inside a residence sourced tell FSU.

According to early reports, one person involved in the dispute allegedly threw an object, causing injuries to a family member at around 8:00 am. The suspect remained inside the home following the altercation and was believed to have access to weapons sources say.
Tactical teams were activated, and police established a perimeter while drones were deployed to monitor activity.
As responding units arrived, the suspect refused to exit the residence and was observed barricading doors and windows according to sources familiar with the incident.
At one point, heavy white smoke was observed coming from the back of the home. Firefighters responded to the scene without sirens and staged nearby waiting on police to give the okay to respond in.
After several hours, at around 12:00, law enforcement breached the front entrance using tactical equipment and introduced chemical agents into the home. The suspect exited and was taken into custody without further incident sources say.
The school, which had been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, was later cleared to resume normal operations.
Animal control was also responded due to the presence of multiple dogs on the property.
