Man Airlifted In Serious Condition After Roth Bridge Rollover

New Castle County — A serious motor vehicle collision on the Roth Bridge Monday afternoon resulted in a man being airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to NCCEMS Assistant Public Information Officer Jamielee Majewski, emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 4:08 p.m., to the northbound lanes of the Roth Bridge following reports of a crash involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer.

Upon arrival, units from the Odessa Fire Company found that an SUV had collided with a tractor-trailer and subsequently overturned. Firefighters and paramedics from New Castle County EMS and supporting fire companies worked to stabilize the scene and treat the injured driver.

A 47-year-old male was treated on site by New Castle County Paramedics for a head injury and suspected internal injuries. Due to the severity of his condition, the Delaware State Police Helicopter transported the man to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. He was listed in serious condition at the time of transport.

Responding agencies included the Odessa Fire Company, Port Penn Fire Company, Delaware City Fire Company, New Castle County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
