Motorcyclist Airlifted Following Serious Collision In Bear-Area

Newark, DE – Emergency crews responded to a serious collision involving a motorcycle at approximately 2:09 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2025. The incident occurred on southbound Route 896 at the intersection with Denny Road in Bear.

According to information released by Assistant Public Information Officer Leslie Antonelli-Hobbs, a 19-year-old male operating a motorcycle was injured after a crash with another vehicle. New Castle County Paramedics, along with personnel from the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company, Christiana Fire Company, and Minquas Fire Company, responded to the scene. Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 5 was also dispatched to provide air transport.

Upon arrival, first responders found the patient suffering from multiple injuries, including trauma to the head and extremities, as well as possible internal injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. Authorities report that he was in serious but stable condition at the time of transport.

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
