COLD CASE HOMICIDE: THE UNSOLVED MURDER OF NELSON DRAKEFORD

On the night of August 2, 2008, emergency personnel responded to a report of a shooting in the Edgemoor community, located in the 41 block of South Cannon Drive in Wilmington, Delaware. At approximately 10:00 p.m., officers located 19-year-old Nelson Drakeford lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

Drakeford was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly after arrival. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No arrests have been made.

The case remains open, and the New Castle County Division of Police Cold Case Unit continues its efforts to identify those responsible. Detectives urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
