Rider Killed In Frankford Motorcycle Crash Identified

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Frankford.

On September 18, 2025, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a Yamaha YZF motorcycle, and two other mini-motorcycles, were traveling southbound on Camp Barnes Road south of Estuary Boulevard.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Yamaha, which was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, attempted to pass the two mini-motorcycles on a double yellow line oilice said. The motorcycle lost control, exited the west side of the road, and struck a traffic sign, causing the rider to be ejected.

The motorcyclist, 22-year-old Michael Peterson, of Millville, Delaware, was wearing a full-face helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Camp Barnes Road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
