Route 301 Closed Due To Fatal Accident

Emergency crews were dispatched to U.S. Route 301 southbound in Middletown early Monday morning following reports of a rollover crash with entrapment.

Upon arrival, rescue personnel located three patients. One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of a second vehicle was airlifted by helicopter to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. A third patient was evaluated on-site, though it remains unclear if they were transported for additional care.

Initial reports suggest that three vehicles were involved in the collision. Route 301 southbound remains closed as crews work to clear the wreckage and authorities conduct their investigation.

Further details, including the identities of those involved, will be released once police provide additional information.
