Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a car that occurred Saturday evening in Millsboro.
Officials said on September 13, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard (US 113) in the right lane, approaching the intersection at Centerview Drive. The traffic signal for northbound Dupont Boulevard was red. The motorcycle, which was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to stop for the red light and entered the intersection, police said.
At the same time, a Chevrolet Malibu was in the right westbound lane of Centerview Drive with a green light, proceeding straight through the intersection. As the Malibu crossed into the intersection, the front of the motorcycle struck the left front side of the Malibu, causing the rider to be ejected.
The motorcyclist, 52-year-old Brian Irons, of York, Pennsylvania, was wearing a DOT-certified helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Malibu, a 21-year-old man from Millsboro, was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately three and a half hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the roadway.
