Armed Robber Fires Shot Inside Wilmington Grocery Store Before Fleeing, Police Say

Authorities have updated a story that First State Update first reported on Friday.

Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Friday afternoon at a Wilmington grocery store.

According to investigators, troopers were dispatched at approximately 3:30 p.m. on November 14, 2025, to La Oaxaqueña Grocery Store at 107 North Maryland Avenue. The preliminary investigation determined that two unidentified suspects entered the business and demanded money from an employee. During the robbery, one suspect pointed a handgun at customers and staff.

Police said the armed suspect lost balance while reaching over the counter and a single round was discharged. No injuries were reported. The suspects fled the store with cash and an employee’s personal belongings before leaving the area in a dark-colored sedan.

The case remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Detective D. Armstrong at (302) 365-8440.
