Crash Closes Harvey Road Thursday Morning

A traffic collision closed Harvey Road in Claymont early Thursday morning after first responders were dispatched to the Interstate 95 northbound off-ramp at approximately 6:26 a.m.

The incident was initially reported as a crash with entrapment. Crews from the Claymont Fire Company and Brandywine Hundred Fire Company confirmed one person trapped on arrival.

Firefighters worked to free the individual, who was freed a short time later. Command recalled all paramedic units and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 after determining they were not needed. Both involved drivers declined transport to the hospital.

Harvey Road remains closed in both directions as crews continue clearing the crash scene and conducting follow-up operations. Authorities have not released additional information about the number of vehicles involved or the cause of the collision.
