Delaware State Police arrested three students at Glasgow High School on Wednesday morning following a gun investigation inside the school, authorities said.
The incident occurred on December 3, 2025, at approximately 9:19 a.m. at the school located on South College Avenue in Newark. Police said the school’s resource officer was alerted by staff that a 15-year-old, a 17-year-old, and Troy Alston, 18, were overheard discussing what law enforcement commonly refers to as a “trap,” meaning a handgun. Due to the nature of the statements, the three students were escorted to the school office for further investigation.
According to police, when the 15-year-old student was contacted by the school resource officer, he fled into a hallway where a struggle followed. Authorities said the 17-year-old student and Alston then grabbed the trooper from behind in an attempt to prevent the 15-year-old from being taken into custody. All three were eventually taken into custody without further incident. A search of the 15-year-old’s backpack led to the discovery of a loaded .40 caliber handgun that was later confirmed to have been reported stolen to the New Castle City Police Department. No students or staff members were injured.
The 15-year-old male from Newark was transported to Troop 2, charged with multiple felony weapons offenses including possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person under 21, possession of a firearm in a safe school zone, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, receiving a stolen firearm, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court No. 11 and committed to a Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families facility in lieu of $117,000 cash bail.
Troy Alston, 18, of Bear, Delaware, was taken to Troop 2 and charged with hindering prosecution, conspiracy in the second degree, and offensive touching of a law enforcement officer. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $5,000 secured bond. The 17-year-old male student from Newark was also charged with hindering prosecution, conspiracy in the second degree, and offensive touching of a law enforcement officer. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released to his legal guardians.
