Young Man Killed In Crash Sunday Night

Emergency crews were dispatched to a serious traffic collision just after 10:40 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Bear Christiana Road and Songsmith Drive in Bear, New Castle County.

According to preliminary information from the scene, a vehicle struck the rear of a car carrier. The driver of the striking vehicle, reportedly in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. No additional details about the identity of the driver have been released.

The incident prompted the closure of both northbound and southbound lanes of Bear Christiana Road at Songsmith Drive for an extended period while emergency responders worked at the scene and investigators conducted their assessment. Delaware State Police issued a traffic advisory urging motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to prevent delays.

New Castle County Emergency Medical Services and multiple fire and emergency units responded to the incident. The roadway remained closed while officers investigated the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, and further information is expected to be released by authorities as it becomes available.
