Good Samaritan Pulls Driver From Fiery Crash Overnight

Rescue crews responded late Thursday evening to a vehicle collision along Pulaski Highway near the Frenchtown Woods development, close to the Maryland state line.

At approximately 11:36 p.m., Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company responded alongside New Castle County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Section after reports indicated a vehicle had struck a tree head-on and was on fire.

Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Emergency radio traffic indicated that a passerby had pulled the driver from the vehicle prior to the arrival of fire and medical personnel.

Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 transported the patient, a male in his 20s, to Christiana Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
