The Delaware State Police announced the arrests of two Millsboro residents following the execution of a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and weapons.
According to police, on January 22, 2026, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 30000 block of Friendship Road in Millsboro. Authorities said the warrant was obtained after an investigation into the alleged distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence by 66-year-old Douglas Clay (L) and 59-year-old Kenneth Peters (R). Both men were detained without incident during the operation.
Police said that a search of the residence led to the recovery of approximately 8.41 grams of mushrooms, approximately 0.05 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 0.01 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale and drug paraphernalia, a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition, and two large fixed-blade knives.
Clay was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 4, where he was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession, purchase, ownership, or control of a firearm or destructive weapon by a person previously convicted of a violent felony, possession, purchase, ownership, or control of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited due to a prior violent crime or felony, possession of a destructive weapon involving a sawed-off shotgun, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $19,000 secured bond, police said.
Peters was also taken to Troop 4, where police charged him with two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance classified as Tier 2, possession of a controlled substance classified as Tier 2, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $48,700 cash bond, according to police.
