Officials have released details surrounding a crash involving a car carrier along Route 301 northbound on Tuesday.
New Castle County officials said emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:00 p.m. after reports that a tractor trailer had left the roadway. Upon arrival, units located the vehicle off the roadway, where it had come to rest near a retention pond.
The driver of the tractor trailer, described as a 30-year-old male, was evaluated at the scene and declined transportation to a hospital. A 50-year-old male bystander sustained lacerations while attempting to assist the driver prior to the arrival of emergency personnel and also declined transport for further medical care.
The response included personnel from New Castle County Paramedics, Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, the New Castle County Hazmat Team, and the New Castle County Surface Water Rescue Team.
Delaware State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
