Officers with the New Castle County Division of Police responded on Thursday, January 8, 2026, to the area of Rhode Island Avenue and Wagoner Drive in the Woodland Park community for a reported robbery that had occurred the previous day.
According to investigators, the victim told officers he had arranged to sell several watches he advertised on a social media account. A prospective buyer directed him to park in a designated location to complete the transaction. While seated inside his vehicle, the victim was approached by masked individuals armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the watches and then fled the area in a vehicle.
Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit assumed the investigation and later identified the suspects as 19-year-old Julien Dunne of Elsmere and 18-year-old John Shaw III of Wilmington, officials said.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, members of the Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team located Dunne at a residence on Vilone Road in Wilmington, where he was taken into custody without incident. On the same date, detectives located Shaw operating a maroon Jeep on Faulkland Road in Wilmington. When officers attempted a traffic stop, police said Shaw fled at a high rate of speed. He was later taken into custody near Montgomery Road and Field Road.
Dunne was charged with one felony count of Robbery First Degree, one felony count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and one felony count of Conspiracy Second Degree. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $41,000 cash bail.
