A 19-year-old Dover man has been arrested following a carjacking that occurred Sunday evening in a grocery store parking lot.
According to investigators, troopers responded at approximately 5:40 p.m. on March 8, 2026, to Redner’s Market, located at 88 Salt Creek Drive in Dover, after receiving a report of a carjacking.
Authorities said a 20-year-old man was sitting inside his vehicle when a suspect described as a black male wearing black clothing and a mask approached and asked to use the victim’s phone. As the victim attempted to hand over the phone, the suspect allegedly punched him and attempted to keep him from exiting the vehicle. The victim managed to get out of the car, and a physical struggle between the two followed.
During the altercation, the suspect took possession of the victim’s phone and vehicle after the victim ran inside the store to seek assistance. The victim sustained minor injuries.
A witness who observed the incident followed the suspect as he drove away in the stolen vehicle and tracked the car to a residence on New Street in Dover. Troopers arrived shortly afterward and took the suspect into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Malik Woodall of Dover.
Woodall was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with second-degree robbery for preventing or overcoming resistance while taking possession of a motor vehicle, and third-degree assault. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
