A Lewes man has been arrested following a reported burglary and assault at a residence early Tuesday morning, according to the Delaware State Police.
Troopers were dispatched at approximately 2:00 a.m. on March 10, 2026, to the 19000 block of Plantation Road in Lewes for a report of a burglary in progress. When troopers arrived at the scene, they heard residents yelling and pointing in the direction where the suspect had fled.
Troopers quickly located the suspect nearby and took him into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as 57-year-old Dale Andrews of Lewes.
The investigation determined that Andrews entered the home through an unlocked door and grabbed a 57-year-old man inside the residence. Another occupant confronted Andrews, causing him to flee from the home. The victim sustained minor injuries during the encounter.
Andrews was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 7, where he was charged with first-degree burglary – occupied dwelling causing injury, a felony, and offensive touching. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $20,500 cash bond.
