Maryland Man Charged In Burglary Of Dollar General

A Maryland man was arrested early Saturday after Delaware State Police said he forced entry into a Dollar General in Bear police said.

According to police, troopers were dispatched at about 4:45 a.m. on April 11, 2026, to Dollar General at 1815 Pulaski Highway for a burglar alarm. Investigators said a man wearing a cowboy hat, a long black coat, and black-and-white shoes forced his way through the store’s front door.

Officials said the suspect entered the business and attempted to open the tobacco display case but was unable to gain access. He then fled the store before troopers arrived.

A search of the area led troopers to Wawa at 1605 Pulaski Highway, where they located a man matching the suspect’s description. Police identified him as 32-year-old Anthony Ferguson of Hyattsville, Maryland, and said he was detained without incident and determined to be the person involved in the burglary.

Ferguson was taken to Troop 2 and charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, attempted theft under $1,500, and criminal mischief involving damage of at least $1,000 but less than $5,000. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,000 unsecured bond.
