A 17-year-old male juvenile has been taken into custody in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred late last month, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Authorities said that members of the department’s Gun Intelligence Unit had been investigating the March 25 incident in the 1600 block of West 6th Street. During the course of the investigation, detectives identified the juvenile as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
On April 9 at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the same block, where the juvenile was taken into custody without incident. During the search, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition, approximately 1.32 grams of heroin, and drug paraphernalia.
The juvenile has been charged with multiple offenses, including reckless endangering in the first degree, four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity.
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $45,000 cash-only bail.
