Young Girl Fatally Struck While Riding Scooter In Quiet Smyrna Neighborhood

A fatal collision involving a young child on an electric scooter is under investigation by the Smyrna Police Department following an incident late Monday afternoon.

Authorities said the crash occurred on April 27, 2026, at approximately 4:54 p.m. along Greens Branch Lane near Eagle Way. Investigators reported that a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Greens Branch Lane as an 8-year-old girl on an electric scooter was heading north on Eagle Way toward the same intersection where they collided.

Emergency responders transported the child, identified as an 8-year-old girl from Smyrna, to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Officials have not released her name pending notification of family members.

Police said the driver of the Silverado, a 37-year-old man from Felton, was not injured in the crash.

The roadway in the area remained closed for an extended period as investigators processed the scene and cleared debris.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information that could assist in the investigation to contact the department’s Special Investigations Unit.
