A 17-year-old Laurel teen died Thursday night after Delaware State Police say he was shot near the Concord Pond boat ramp in Seaford.
Troopers were dispatched at approximately 8:45 p.m. on May 21, 2026, to the 24000 block of German Road for a reported crash. When police arrived, they found the driver, identified only as a 17-year-old male from Laurel, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Troopers began lifesaving efforts at the scene before the victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.
According to preliminary information released by investigators, detectives believe the teen was shot by an unknown suspect near the Concord Pond boat ramp located on German Road prior to the crash.
No suspect information or motive has been released.
