Two Pedestrians Struck Early Sunday, One Airlifter To Trauma Center

A pedestrian-involved crash in Dewey Beach early Sunday morning resulted in one person being airlifted, according to initial reports.

The incident occurred just before 2:00 a.m. in the area of Coastal Highway and New Orleans Street. Emergency responders were dispatched following reports that two pedestrians had been struck, with one individual found down in the roadway.

A 23-year-old woman reportedly sustained head injuries and was transported by Delaware State Police Aviation to Christiana Emergency Room for further treatment. A male patient with a leg injury was transported to Beebe Hospital in stable condition.

The roadway was closed for for over two hours while crews operated and the scene was cleared.
