A Wilmington drug investigation has led to the arrest of a city man after police said officers recovered a loaded handgun, marijuana, and MDMA during the execution of a search warrant on Lancaster Avenue.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division began investigating 36-year-old Cleveland Baldwin in April in connection with alleged illegal drug sales in the 1600 block of Lancaster Avenue.
Police said officers located Baldwin on May 5 at approximately 12:38 p.m. and took him into custody without incident. Investigators then executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Lancaster Avenue.
During the search, officers reportedly recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition, approximately 169 grams of marijuana, and 53 doses of MDMA.
Baldwin was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Tier 2), possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance (Tier 2), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
