Wilmington Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a July shooting that left another man critically injured.
Police responded to the area of 8th and Adams Streets at approximately 1:49 p.m. on July 6 for reports of a shooting. Officers located a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The investigation was assigned to Detective Thomas Rittenhouse of the Wilmington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. During the investigation, police identified 25-year-old Jamar Jackson as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest according to police.
Jackson was taken into custody on August 5 with assistance from the United States Marshals Task Force. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, two counts of criminal mischief under $1,000 and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
Jackson was arraigned in New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1.5 million cash-only bail.
