October 30, 2026 · By First State Update News Room

LINCOLN, Del. — A 19-year-old Ellendale man has died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night, October 28, 2026, at the intersection of DuPont Boulevard and Johnson Road in Lincoln.

According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. when a Ford F-150 traveling northbound on DuPont Boulevard approached the intersection with Johnson Road. At the same time, a Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling westbound on Johnson Road toward DuPont Boulevard.

Troopers say the preliminary investigation determined that the driver of the F-150 failed to stop at a red traffic signal, causing the front of the pickup truck to strike the driver’s side of the Chevrolet Cavalier.

The driver of the Cavalier, a 19-year-old man from Ellendale, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. He died from his injuries on Thursday, October 29.

The driver of the Ford F-150, a 22-year-old Georgetown man, was also transported to an area hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Emergency crews responding to the crash Wednesday night reported heavy entrapment involving a critically injured patient. Both patients were transported by ground ambulance to Bayhealth Sussex Campus. Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2 helicopter was requested but ultimately not utilized.

DuPont Boulevard was closed for an extended period while investigators examined the scene and crews cleared the roadway.
