MIDDLETOWN, Del. — Middletown Police responded to approximately 1,340 calls for service during a one-month period between July 15 and August 15, 2026, while recording dozens of criminal charges and hundreds of traffic enforcement actions throughout the town.
During the reporting period, officers recorded 81 criminal charges, including 17 felonies, 54 misdemeanors, nine violations and one civil penalty. The department also issued 287 traffic summonses, including one for driving under the influence, along with 132 warnings.
Officers completed 232 written reports and recorded 213 property checks. The department also documented 418 activities classified as Field Service Reports and Crime Prevention Checks (FSR/CPC). These activities generally involve routine police responses, community interactions and proactive safety checks that do not necessarily result in criminal charges or arrests.
Among the criminal investigations handled during the period were the theft of more than $1,450 in kratom-containing products from an East Main Street gas station, the recovery of a stolen vehicle in the Millbranch neighborhood and the theft of more than $8,000 worth of tools from a work van on South Broad Street.
Police also arrested a 47-year-old man in the Cricklewood Green area after determining he was wanted by authorities in Pennsylvania for failing to appear for trial. Officers reported finding approximately 19 grams of crystal methamphetamine in his possession.
Although the activity occurred between July and August, the information has only recently become available for public reporting. Middletown Police do not routinely publish detailed information about individual criminal investigations and arrests in real time, resulting in delays between when incidents occur and when the information becomes publicly available.
