Caleb Grant

Harrington – On July 5, 2017 the Harrington Police Department arrested Caleb G. Grant 21, of the 300 Block of Calvin Street after police respond to a report of a disorderly subject in a residence, according to Harrington Police Public Information Officer Captain Earl Brode.

Brode said while on patrol at 1:46 a.m. a Harrington Officer and a Delaware State Police Trooper responded to Mr. Grant’s residence on Calvin St. after a family member called police reporting that Grant was intoxicated inside the residence and breaking items inside the house.

Police contacted Grant inside the residence and he was uncooperative with officers and failed to obey the officer’s commands. Police then attempted to take him into custody and he began to resist arrest with officers. While resisting arrest Grant kicked the trooper in the leg. After a brief struggle Grant was taken into custody, according to Brode.

Police determined that he also damaged property inside the residence. The Harrington Officer transported Grant to the Harrington Police Department for processing. While being transported back Mr. Grant spit on the Harrington Officer, said Brode.

He was processed at the Harrington Police Department and charged with Resisting Arrest with force or violence, two counts of Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer and two counts of Criminal Mischief under $1,000. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $1,700 secured bond. Neither of the officers sustained any injuries.
