Mounted Police Search For Suspect At Glasgow Park

Newark – New Castle County Police (NCCPD) are currently investigating a report of a 59-year-old female inappropriately touched as she walked in Glasgow Park, according to NCCPD Spokesman JP Piser.

Piser said yesterday morning, July 7, County Police were dispatched to Glasgow Park for an unlawful sexual contact. Police learned that the 59-year-old victim was walking in Glasgow Park at about 8:00 a.m., in the area of the barn, when a man riding a bicycle approached her from behind, touched her buttocks, and then fled on the bike, according to Piser.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a thin black male, wearing a black windbreaker, black shorts, black shoes, with something covering his face. He was riding a BMX style bicycle.

Piser said Mounted Patrol officers responded to the area and patrolled the park as well as neighboring bike trails on ATVs, but did not locate the suspect.

Police remind the public to be aware of their surroundings while walking in parklands and also advocate walking with friends. If anything seems suspicious, citizens are asked to call police immediately.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact New Castle County Police at (302) 573-2800.
