Two Arrested For Assault In Milford

Milford – On 09/08/2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Milford Police Department Patrol Division responded to Uptown Liquors located at 207 NE Front St. Milford, DE 19963 in reference to an assault, according to Detective Timothy Maloney.

Maloney said the investigation revealed that two males, identified as Gordon Pruitt, 19 of Milford, DE, and a 17-year-old juvenile, allegedly assaulted the victim at the store and then fled from the store on bicycles. The two suspects were located  by officers and were subsequently identified by the victim, accoring to Maloney.

Investigation revealed the victim and the suspects had engaged in a verbal altercation, at which time the victim entered Uptown Liquors where the suspects allegedly followed the victim and attacked him, said Maloney.  The victim was treated at the scene by ambulance staff and did not require being transported to the hospital. Pruitt initially gave officers a false name, but was later identified during a check through the Delaware Criminal Justice System, said Maloney. During a search of Pruitt, prescription medicine and suspected marijuana were located, added Maloney.

Pruitt was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Possess A Controlled Substance In A Tier 1 Quantity, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Criminal Impersonation, and Disorderly Conduct. The 17 year old juvenile was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. Pruitt was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on $5000.00 USC unsecured bail. A no contact order was put into place between Pruitt and the victim. Pruitt was ordered to appear in Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date reference this case. The 17-year-old juvenile was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on $3000.00 unsecured bail to the custody of his mother. The juvenile was ordered to appear at a later date in Kent County Family Court reference to this case.
