Bear – Delaware State Police are currently investigating the attempted robbery of a Bear area restaurant employee which took place in the parking lot of the business, Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.
Austin said the incident occurred on Monday, October 9, 2017 at approximately 11:19 p.m. in the parking lot of the Texas Roadhouse restaurant located at 250 Buckley Blvd., Bear DE, as a 45-year-old male employee was walking to his vehicle after finishing his shift.
As the male victim approached his vehicle he was struck in the head and knocked to the ground by an unknown suspect who he had not noticed while walking through the lot, said Austin. As the victim was laying on the ground the suspect demanded money from him. The victim then began yelling for help at which time the suspect fled on foot towards Paxton Drive in the Buckley development, without obtaining any money or other property.
The victim did sustain a small cut over his eye and a scrape to his elbow as a result of the altercation for which he refused medical treatment.
The suspect is described as a black male, 20 years of age approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, with the hood drawn tight around his head and dark pants.
