Update: Police Actively Searching For Armed Carjacking Suspect – New Photo

Update – County Police Detectives are currently investigating an armed carjacking that occurred in the community of The Timbers, according to M/Cpl. Heather Carter.

Carter said Today, October 27, at 10:00 a.m.,  patrol officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Bittersweet Dr for the report of a carjacking.  Police learned that the victim was approached in his driveway, by a black male suspect armed with a handgun.  The 87-year-old victim was driven around by the suspect and let out of the vehicle in the area of 95 and Naamans Rd. There were no reported injuries to the victim.

The suspect then stole the victim’s car, a Maroon Kia sedan with Delaware registration PC422283, according to Carter. The car has not been recovered and police are currently looking for the vehicle.

23-year-old Kalin Jackson of the unit block of Mackenzie Court, New Castle is a person of interest and currently wanted by Wilmington, Police, said Carter.

An earlier  report that the Kia Sorento may have been involved in a crash at Route 273 and Old Baltimore Pike has not been confirmed.

On Thursday, October 26, 2017, at approximately 6:07 pm, Wilmington police were dispatched to Herlihey Apartments, located in 320 E. 5th street for a report of shots fired, according to police

Police indicated that Kalin Jackson, 23 from the unit block of Mackenzie Court, New Castle is a suspect in the incident. Police said during a dispute, Jackson removed a set of car keys from the victim. As the victim fled inside the lobby of the apartment building, Jackson discharged two rounds into the wall of the lobby, said police.

Officials indicated that Jackson stole the victim’s 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, white in color, displaying Delaware registration: 164220.

At 12:46 pm, Today, October 27, 2017 New Castle County Police reported that the suspect, Kalin Jackson,  committed another carjacking on Bittersweet Drive in Wilmington.

While New Castle County Police were investigating this new carjacking the original vehicle that Jackson was last seen in (white 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt) was recovered.

Police said that Jackson is now traveling in a 2012 Kia Sorento, maroon in color, displaying Delaware registration: PC 422283.

Before the second carjacking Jackson had warrants for the following charges: Reckless Endangering First Degree, Robbery First Degree, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (2), and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.

Anyone who observes the 2012 maroon Kia Sorento is urged to dial 911.

If anyone observes Kalin Jackson, police urge citizens to dial 911. Do not approach the suspect. Jackson is armed and dangerous.
