The Newark Police are investigating a shoplifting incident which occurred at Acme in the College Square Shopping Center on Friday November 3, 2017 at approximately 6:00 p.m. On that date, an unknown white male entered the store and removed multiple hygiene products totaling $370.00, according to Sergeant Gerald J. Bryda. The store was able to obtain a surveillance photo of the suspect, said Bryda. The Newark Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the shoplifter. Incident 2:
The Newark Police are investigating several bike thefts over the last week. The first was reported to police on Saturday November 4th. Officers responded to the 500 block of Hamlet Way where a Kona Cider bicycle valued over $1,000 was stolen from a bike rack. The bike had been secured with a lock, both the lock and the bike were missing. A second bike was reported stolen from the 800 block of District Drive. A black mountain bike valued at $100 had been locked to a bike rack and was also missing. A third bike theft was reported on Sunday November 5th. Officers responded to the 400 block of Wollaston Drive where a Trek bicycle valued over $400, which had been locked to a fence, was now missing. Incident 3:
The Newark Police are investigating a burglary to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church located on South College Avenue. Sometime during the overnight hours of Monday November 6th to Tuesday November 7th, an unknown suspect broke into the church and removed cash and electronics. Incident 4:
The Newark Police are investigating a theft of items from a motor vehicle on the 300 block of Delaware Circle. Sometime during the overnight hours of Monday November 6th to Tuesday November 7th, an unknown suspect entered an unsecured vehicle and rummaged through the car removing a small amount of loose change.
