Police: Three University of Delaware Students Robbed At Gunpoint

Newark – The Newark Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday, December 9,2017 at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the unit block of Benny Street, according to Lt. Fred Nelson.

Nelson said the three victims, who were all 19-year-old University of Delaware students, reported that they were walking on Benny Street when they were approached from behind by the two suspects. One of the suspects produced a handgun and demanded the victims turn over their property, said Nelson.

One of the victims immediately ran from the area and the other two victims turned over credit cards and a cell phone. The suspects then fled northwest on foot. Officers, including a University of Delaware K9, searched the area, however, the suspects could not be located.

The suspects were both described as white or Hispanic males, thin build, approximately 20 – 25 years old, wearing hooded sweatshirts and dark clothing.
