Graffiti Vandal Destroying Property Around Newark, Police Investigating

Newark Police Department is investigating several incidents of graffiti, believed to be related, that occurred between 12/6/17 and 12/29/17. On 12/27/17 an officer responded to a construction site in the 100 block of S. Chapel Street for a report of graffiti on a dumpster.

The victim, a 65-year-old male from Newark, reported that he noticed the words “WHY” and “Dome” were spray painted on the construction dumpsters and a portable toilet between two and three weeks ago. On 12/29/17 an officer located the word “WHY” spray painted on the side of a business in the unit block of E. Cleveland Avenue and “Why” was found painted on a City of Newark trashcan in the unit block of Wilbur Street.
