Newark – A University of Delaware police officer is organizing a smile campaign for a little boy battling cancer. Corporal Bill Wentz is asking the public to send in cards and photos to lift the spirits of 9-year-old Danny.
Wentz met Danny when he became part of the UD football team through the B+ foundation, a support group for kids fighting cancer. On December 30 Wentz posted the following on Facebook:
This little boy right here is Danny, and he has touched the hearts of the officers at UDPD, along with our Football players. Danny became part of the football team through the B+ foundation, and many of our officers have had the pleasure to spend time with him during games.
We are sad to say Danny is back at AI DuPont Children’s Hospital after a relapse. Our thoughts and prayers are with Danny and his family as he fights through another battle. Below is a link to help assist the family during this time, or a way to just show your love and support for Danny. #DoItForDanny
On Friday Wentz took to Facebook again, this time asking for the public to send in cards and photos to cheer up little Danny.
Good morning! Our department would like some help in bringing a smile to our friend Danny’s face. You can help us in doing this by sending cards and pictures to Danny at the below listed address. (P.S. Danny loves UD Football and the Philadelphia Eagles.) #DoItForDanny
