Multiple Shootings Across New Castle County On Wednesday, Four To Hospital

Police officers from several New Castle County police agencies are investigating multiple shooting that occurred yesterday, Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Three separate shootings in Middletown, Wilmington, and Edgemoor sent four people to area hospitals.

The first shooting occurred at approximately 1:20 pm in Wilmington. In that case, Wilmington Police Officers were summoned to the Wilmington Hospital with regard to a shooting victim who drove himself to the hospital, according to authorities.

Officials said upon the officer’s arrival, they made contact with a 29-year-old male who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his left thigh. The victim remains uncooperative with officers and at this time, according to officials. Police believe this incident occurred in the 2300 block of N. Market Street. The patient is listed in stable condition.

Middletown – The second shooting incident occurred just after 3:00 pm on Lockwood Street in Middletown. Middletown Police responded to the area and found two patients both with multiple gunshot wounds. We are awaiting more information from Middletown Police regarding this incident. Edgemoor – The third shooting occurred last night at approximately 10:00, in the community of Edgemoor, according to New Castle County Police Spokesman M/Cpl. Michel Eckerd.

Eckerd said that New Castle County Patrol Officers were dispatched to the unit block of Polk Drive for the report of shots fired. While at the scene, officers discovered that one subject had suffered a gunshot wound. Eckerd did not disclose the subject’s wounds or which hospital they were transported to for treatment.

Police are asking anyone that may have information regarding any of the three shootings to contact the appropriate agency.
