Rehoboth Beach – On Monday, February 12, 2018, at approximately 10:57 p.m. medics with Sussex County Paramedics, along with crews from the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Delaware State Police and Trooper 2 (Delaware State Police Aviation Sussex County) were dispatched to the 19000 block of Norwood Street for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, it was determined that a 56-year-old Rehoboth Beach man had been shot while inside his residence. As medics evaluated the victim they determined that he had sustained two gunshot wounds, one to his upper torso and another to his upper extremity. Medics then alerted Trooper 2 that they would not be utilized for patient transport.

The man was then transported to a local area hospital by ambulance, where he was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that shots fired at the residence penetrated the exterior of the home striking the victim twice, according to Delaware State Police Public Information Officer Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said two other adults and a child who were in the residence were uninjured.
