Newark – Delaware State Police detectives are investigating a daytime burglary that took place last month, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.
Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 3:41 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2018, at the Sallie Mae Corporation, located at 300 Continental Drive Newark. The suspect made forcible entry into the building before proceeding to a restricted area where employee’s personal belongings are kept, according to Austin. The suspect was then able to take possession of multiple personal credit cards before exiting the property undetected, said Austin.
After fleeing the Sallie Mae property in the rental vehicle, the suspect proceeded to the Christiana Mall where multiple fraudulent purchases were made, utilizing the stolen credit cards, according to Austin.
The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a dark colored baseball hat, dark colored sweatshirt, light blue jeans and dark sneakers. The U-Haul rental van which the suspect was operating, displayed stolen Maryland license plate 2AWA66.
