Reports Of DART Bus Driver Injured In Newark Unfounded

 

Newark – The Newark Police department has informed First State Update that the incident that occurred on a DART  Paratransit bus this afternoon did not involve a bus driver.  Authorities said that there was an altercation on the bus between two subjects who are both intellectually and/or physically disabled. One of the subjects received a red mark from a pen.

Police said that there is no criminal investigation at this point.

“Initial reports heard over the police radio were determined not to be accurate as to what happened during the incident”, said Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda.

Breaking Report

Newark – Just after 4:30 this afternoon, Friday, July 10, 2018, officers with the Newark Police Department responded to the 500 block of Interchange Blvd, near Newark Charter School, for reports that a DART Paratransit bus driver had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver and determined that the wound was not life-threatening and responding crews from Aetna, Hose, Hook, and Ladder were recalled.

Early indications are that police made contact with the suspect at a nearby business.

It’s unclear what led up to the incident or if the suspect was taken into custody.
