Troopers: Victim Recovering After Being Stabbed With Pitchfork, One In Custody

Dover– The Delaware State Police have arrested a Dover man after a fight led to one victim being stabbed, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on Friday, August 17, 2018, at approximately 8:13 a.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the 800 block of Papen Lane, for a fight in progress. Upon arrival, Troopers located a 45-year-old male victim, with injuries to his face and leg. Further investigation revealed that the victim had engaged in a physical altercation with 31-year-old Saul Velez-Mojica, according to Jaffe. Saul Velez-Mojica threatened to kill the victim and proceeded to obtain a pitchfork in which he stabbed the victim in his leg, said Jaffe.

The victim was transported by EMS to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Prior to police arrival, Saul Velez-Mojica had fled the scene into a wooded area. He was located shortly after and taken into custody without incident.

Saul Velez-Mojica was transported to the Justice of the Peace Court 7 where he was charged and arraigned with the following:

Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
Assault Second Degree
Terroristic Threatening
Resisting Arrest
Saul Velez-Mojica was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $15,000.00 secured bond.
